Honeymoon blog, Day 13: Day Trip to Monte Carlo

Early start today to try taking a train to Monaco for the day, but our short walk according to Google Maps led us astray to a street car stop instead of the train station.  So instead we took a scenic detour around Nice on foot for a half hour or so, stopping inside a local market for snacks we could eat along the way.  When we finally found the station we took a very scenic ride along the coast, and only 5 stops and a half hour later we were in Monaco! Honeymoon blog, Day 12: Chao Venice!

Another early morning wake up in order to check out of Hotel Metropole early and catch the 9:25am Alilaguna Blue water bus/shuttle ride directly from San Zaccharina to Marco Polo airport just outside of Venice.  The ride took 1.5 hours around the east side of the island, with a brief stop at Murano island, but made it to the airport with time to spare!  We were both very hungry on account of skipping our breakfast, so we dined on fast food at the airport: spaghetti for me, and pizza for Lauren. Honeymoon blog, Day 11: Exploring Venice by Gondola

Woke up to the sounds of motor boats and oars paddling in the canal outside of our hotel room.  We skipped breakfast in the morning and headed straight to Palazzo Ducale (the Doge’s Palace) for the english language tour which was set to start at 9:55am, only to find that the tour was fully booked for weeks in advance. Instead we grabbed an audio guide and led ourselves around the palace, including the doge’s large apartment, the senate, college, library, courts, and the Great Hall.
